چکیده
Bathing is one of the main actions birds perform as part their preening. They may bathe in water, snow, dust, and even ants. Leaf bathing, where make use water droplets on leaves to bathe, less common. Here we describe four observations between 2017 2021 ring-necked parakeets Psittacula krameri bathing during rain.Over past twenty years have often seen monk Myiopsitta monachus puddles but never leaves. The parakeet forages ground, are reluctant do so. We therefore interpret that leaf observed could be an anti-predatory strategy avoid going down ground.

Nestling Development of Ring-necked Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) in a Nest Box Population
Chick development of a population of non-native Ring-necked Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) (RNP) has been investigated between 2006 and 2008 in Heidelberg, Germany. In parrots hatching asynchrony is common. RNP chicks are under natural selection to fledge synchronously with their siblings, as parents return less often to the nest after the first chick has fledged and remaining chicks may starve...
متن کاملResource Use by Non-Native Ring-Necked Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) and Native Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) in Central Europe
In general, non-native bird species may competitively exclude native species from nest sites. The potential resource conflict between a native and an introduced bird species, the native European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) and the introduced Asian Ring-necked Parakeet (Psittacula krameri), was inferred from hole occupancy in parks of the German Upper Rhine Valley (Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Schwetzin...
متن کاملParakeet Damage to Sunflower in Pakistan
Rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri (Scopoli) damage to sunflower heads was estimated in two provinces of Pakistan during the spring of 1981. In seven districts of Punjab the damage ranged from 5.0-23.28 %, with an average of 11.72 %. In rainfed areas the damge was as high as 71.43%, with average of 38.29%. In Sind the damage was on the higher order. In nine districts the damage ranged fro...
متن کاملCrowding in the City: Losing and Winning Competitors of an Invasive Bird
Invasive species can take advantage of resources unexploited by natives (opportunism hypothesis) or they can exploit the same resources but more aggressively or efficiently (competition hypothesis), thus impacting native species. However, invasive species tend to exploit anthropogenic habitats that are inefficiently used by natives such as urban environments. Focusing on the ring-necked parakee...
متن کاملImported parakeets harbor H9N2 influenza A viruses that are genetically closely related to those transmitted to humans in Hong Kong.
In 1997 and 1998, H9N2 influenza A viruses were isolated from the respiratory organs of Indian ring-necked parakeets (Psittacula Krameri manillensis) that had been imported from Pakistan to Japan. The two isolates were closely related to each other (>99% as determined by nucleotide analysis of eight RNA segments), indicating that H9N2 viruses of the same lineage were maintained in these birds f...
